Mari
YELO!
So, I was in a play that was about a play that was a disaster.
It was fun, but mandatory for the class, so that tells you
everything you need to know.
And that constitutes my life.
The year of the 8th is almost over and i have nothing left.
I'm still looking foreword to Hawaii though.
How are you doing!
Love Hyrum
Sweet Emma,
What a week! So as Hyrum told you, he was in the school play "Romeo and
Juliet- Together (and alive!) at Last". He had so many practices that
went late. Even so, he still seemed really nervous and didn't want us
to invite any family. He said this play was
'no big deal' and 'too mushy'. We decided to honor his wishes and just
our little family came to support him. When we got there, and the play
began, we realized that HYRUM WAS THE LEAD! No wonder he was nervous
and that little stinker didn't even tell us
he was the lead! He was FANTASTIC! I will try to send you some scenes
from the play (or at least pics). Hyrum is surprising us all the
time. He will be starting up voice with Marilee this summer. He said
he really likes theater and all the friends he
is making. He was invited to participate in the Riverton Arts Council
'Beauty and the Beast' but he decided to help with Mari's show instead.
Mari will be doing 'School House Rock' with Herriman Arts Council this
summer. Hyrum will be helping on stage crew
(also good theater experience) because he is too old for Herriman's
show (up to age 12).
Mari's voice recital was fun. She did great! She has NO FEAR (like
someone else I know!) When I posted the clip from the recital, Jodi
Gerth thought it was a 'Facebook Memory' of YOU! Everyone says that
Mari is just like you. I think Mari likes that compliment.
Eve went on another date with Hayden Welton. Vanessa was at the Jazz
dance and snapped a picture of their date (what a good friend😂) Hayden seems to be getting more courage around Eve. At least he's talking to her now.
Dad had his first week of High Council Meetings. It's fun to pass him
in the Stake Offices as he his leaving his meetings and I'm going into
mine. Dad smoked meats for the Wenerstroms. It was fun to have them
over. They brought some games that everyone
seemed to enjoy....everyone but me. I was no good at the game because I
am a TERRIBLE liar! I gave up and just told the truth. The game still
worked.
I can't wait to hear about your week in your new area/assignment. I
went to the temple and put your name on the prayer roll. I love it when
they pray for the missionaries! We have all been praying for you extra
this week.
You are very special and very loved. I'm sending a big HUG! I hope you can feel it!
💜Mom
M,
We are excited to hear how your interview with your Mission President
went, what your new assignment is, and who your new companion is. You
get a final push for a few more months. We were able talk with Matt
Langford about the mission and the final push.
We are excited to hear about your experiences.
Hyrum is officially a little turd. His drama class had a play they were
performing. He seemed stressed about it but downplayed it like it was
not a big deal. We considered bring all the family but he suggested
they would be disappointed as it was not a big
deal. The play was based around Romeo and Juilet and Hyrum was the
lead. He was not Romeo but Romeo's friend Ed. He had lines in every
scene and easily the most lines of any actor. The show was based around
Ed trying to get his friend with a girl he likes
and decides to ask the school to sponsor a Shakespeare play and casts
his friend as Romeo and the girl he likes as Juliet. As Hyrum's
character was "writing the script" the students acted out Romeo and
Juilet like it was supposed to be. When they actually
"performed" the play they struggled and messed it up like inexperience
actors would. It was quite funny and required Ed to play some of the
parts on the fly as actors went missing. He played Juliet's mother in a
high pitched voice. Hyrum was awesome!
He thinks that Ms. Dejesus is going to put on Shrek next year and might
cast him as the lead. We will see. He and Mari will be in Herriman's
summer show and taking voice lessons. Develop those skills. You have
started something that can't be stopped.
Mari had a voice recital this past week. She sang 2 songs. One was "I
Was Born to Entertain" and made it very difficult for the Grace Bird who
sang after her. Mari did very good. We saw some of your MDT friends
who are graduating as Seniors. Hyrum was
wondering if he could take voice lessons but avoid the recital. There
was only one guy that performed at the recital.
We get to go see Matilda tomorrow. Mari tried out for this show and had
a good experience but did not make it past the first audition. She is
wanting to start auditioning for more shows. Hyrum might want to also.
We had the Wenerstrom's over for dinner. They won the Smoked Meats at
the auction for the Youth Fundraiser. It went well but I think we all
need a break from smoked meats for a while. After it we finished eating
they went home and brought over some games.
It was a fun night but took a little longer than we had planned.
I had my first meetings with the High Council. I had not synced the
Stake calendar to my phone so I was not aware of our first Stake Council
meeting this morning. It was a 2 hour meeting and I was 1 hour and 15
min late. face palm. I am a master of first
impressions. I have all my keys (literal keys) and expectations for my
new role. I oversee all the buildings and arrange for all repairs and
janitorial supplies. Their is a big garage by the Stake Center in the
South Stake that has all the supplies. It
will take me some time to get familiar with my new routine. I still
have my Elder's Quorum calling, Trek Committee and still a part of the
Stake Sports. I'm hoping I don't forget anything like going late to an
important meeting. ugh
Love ya kid. Keep up the good work.
Dad
