Sweet Emma,
I hope you were able to participate in General Conference.  Did any investigators come?  We were thinking about you and wondered what inspiration you felt.  I learned so much!  A few things stood out to me:  This is the Lord's work!  He could do his work without us but He allows us to help for OUR benefit.  This brought me comfort because I feel responsible for so many things in YW.  Sometimes I wonder if everything will work out....I don't have to worry, I just have to try.  The other thing I was reminded was that everything we do in the Church is to help prepare people for the 2nd Coming of the Savior.  I felt His approval that the countless hours I spend working on Trek and other Stake YW stuff is helping to prepare these precious youth.  It was a good feeling.  I also felt that I need to write Grandpops a letter inviting him to return to church activity.  I'm not sure what I'll say...and he might disown me even more...but it is worth because of the chance that it might work.

Also, so cool about a Temple in the Tooele Valley!

This was a pretty chill week.  Mari's party was crazy.  I'll send pictures.  I laugh at their conversations:  (while watching "Game Plan", the ROCK starts the movie working out and flexing his muscles) the girls where going crazy for his muscles....the "Hotty with a Body".  Also, they went crazy trashing Chandlers, Burtons and Wilfert's houses (it was more like low-key littering because they still haven't figured out how to T.P. properly).  Crazy tweens!

Dad and I did another Trek Ma and Pa training this week.  It went well.  A few youth from each ward were called to be Big Brothers and Sisters on Trek.  They will get to meet/coordinate with their assigned Ma/Pa ahead of time.  The Big Bro/Sis came to the meeting also.  They will be at those meetings from now until Trek.  Eve is one of the Big Sisters.  Next month they will start working out games/skits/stories with their Ma/Pa.  It will be fun to see if these Big Bro/Sis' help the families to bond faster.  It's all about helping encourage the youth to lead.

We are also preparing for our Stake Youth Service Project helping with the planting/beautifying at the Oquirrh Mountain and Jordan River Temples.  (I think I told you about this already).  Anyway, President Steed asked me to give a brief devotional the morning of our Service Project.  I am thinking of telling the youth how the Temple Grounds are a Holy Place too.  They are an extension of the Temple where people can go to feel peace and comfort, find answers, and feel Heavenly Father's love for them.  The Temple Grounds help those who are not currently worthy to enter the Temple, have a place to go for peace.  Their are also many symbolic things about the gardens, such as the color of flowers that are planted near the entrance to the temple are meant to evoke feelings of reverence and peace (lavender, white, green, pastel pinks etc.)  while the colors used near the road are more bright and vibrant (yellow, red, fuchsia, etc.)  I'm honored to do this!

We started planting our garden this weekend.  I planted celery!  I will plant peas/beans this week.  Hyrum has been working on tearing out the fire pit so we can redo it with an above ground fire pit.  It should be much nicer.  We also bought the new Mary Poppins Returns movie, and AquaMan.  Fun stuff.

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful week.  I love you so much!

M,

Gnarly pictures of your parasite.  Be careful and take good care of yourself.  You want to make sure the only thing you bring home is the memory of your experiences and the love of the Brazilian people, nothing else.  Nothing is welcome to come home with you and linger until we can get you properly cleansed.

This week was pretty low key as we got prepared for Conference.  We did our usual traditions.  Felt like we were called to repentance this Conference.  I think it is funny that we did not have any big announcement of change this Conference.  There were a lot of rumors but no announcement.  I think it is smart to not have any changes at Conference so we don't get used to Conference being anything other than the teaching of doctrine.  How do you get to watch Conference as a missionary?  Do you get to see all sessions?  Did you get any investigators to come?

Mari's birthday party was crazy.  I tried to stay out of it as much as possible.  Since her end of year party last year these girls are expecting to participate in a little mischief.  Last Summer the Chandlers rallied some boys and came and sillystringed the party.  The girls responded by wanting to through rocks at the Chandlers home.  This time they decided as part of the party that they wanted to toilet paper something.  The Chandlers were not home so they decided to toilet paper the Burton's and Wilfert's home. They walked down the street making all the noise they could.  I drove the van down to observe and coach them a bit.  What they did was a kin to low level littering.  When they were done they screamed and ran but they would not stop screaming until they were to the next circle.  When they got back they decided they wanted to toilet paper the Chandlers anyway.  When they were done they ran and screamed all the way back.  The Chandlers boys got home and knew what happened.  They brought it all back.  The girls saw it and took it all over there again.  I don't know how many more of these we can handle.  They all come expecting to get into some trouble.  Everyone left happy and we got busy building our tent for Conference.

During the Priesthood session of Conference the girls helped Grandma organize old photos so she can scan them and make them digital.  It was fun/embarrassing to see these photos and reminisce.  Eve did some significant eyerolling at some high school pictures of your Mom and I.  I was hoping we could steal and destroy some of those before they became digital.  I'm still working on organizing our pictures and make videos of our old vacations.  It will be neat to have some of those old pictures to add to our library.

Keep up the good work kid.  I hope you and all the other Sisters are getting along and seeing eye to eye.  Keep working and serving and good things will always happen.  I'm proud of you.

Love

Dad
