8/27/18 - Dia dos Apóstolos!
Fabio and Francisca are still
hanging on. We've set so many dates with them to go to the cartorio and
get them hitched but Satainas always has a way of messing with our plan.
We've heard it all, "The dog is sick", "I hurt my knee", "Family is
visiting". BUT last night I gave them a calssic Emma Barlow pep talk and
got them all pumped to get married tomorrow and be baptized on Satruday. I HAVE FAITH THIS WILL BE THE WEEK!
Some of you may be familiar with the M.I.L.K. song most young women
sing at girls camp. In my Inglês class this week we talked about
groceries so I taught them that song actions and all. We had a lot of
fun. I'l include pictures below.
A 6 year old girl asked Sister Jales and I if we were twins this week... Obviously we are.
Dia dos Apóstolos we took a 2 hour bus ride to the chapel next to
the São Paulo temple and I forgot how many homies I had here in Brasil
with me. I saw Sister Emma Loftus from elementary school and Sister
Kailey Black from middle school along with all my peeps from the CTM.
Small world!
Elder Soares and his wife spoke to us in Portuguese! They're so
cute and humble and were actually giddy to be with us in Brasil. I found
out Elder Soares bapized my mission president on his mission. Too cool!
He talked about how we are called to do what the Savior would do if He
were on the earth. The Savior didn't let one opportunity pass to invite
people to follow Him. We shouldn't either. Elder Ballard shared a lot of
stuff that I felt were answers to my prayers. He talked about how on
our missions we need to working on getting our faith from our heads into
our hearts becasue when we do that we become fearless in our service.
He told us to "Call on the power of heaven and walk with Him as His
missioanaries". I truly believe that when we have real faith in Christ,
true faith, we discover the magnitude of our message and better
understand its eternal significance. This drives us to be better
finders, teachers and proclaimers of this great message. We don't ever
give up because we understand that He is fighting this battle with us
and that more happiness than we can undstand is just around the corner
if we truly try our best.
Elder Ballard got here late (Sao Paulo traffic is nuts) and he
wanted to shake all of our hands so he raised his right hand and asked
us to do the same and all 700 missionaries in São Paulo shook his hand
at the same time. Que fofo.
