6/3/18 - Primary Baptism Outline

Emma,

I don't know if the approached we had for teaching our CTR 7 class will translate to Portuguese but here it goes.  We used a lot of acronyms .
K  -  Keep his commandments
A - Always remember him
T - Take upon us his name
S- He promises his spirit to be with us

MM - Mourn with those who mourn
CC  -  Comfort those who stand in need of comfort
SAW - Stand as a Witness of God

We would have the kids repeat these at the beginning of every class.  We told them that when they had their interview with the Bishop he would ask them if they knew what they were committing to and they would repeat these acronyms.  We also create a CTR 7 Manifesto we had them sign that we gave to the Bishop.  the Manifesto would have all the acronyms and would be used in the Baptism interview.  I hope that helps.

The mission goals are important because you need a goal.  The goal is not to baptize.  The goal is to convert.  How we would deal with this is to bring a member with us to the appointments.  Once we had met with them a few times we would have someone from the Ward there so if they did convert they had a friend in the Ward that will not move during the next transfer.  Try to have the investigator explain why they want baptism.  Try to have the ward member testify at appropriate times in the lesson.  Invite, invite, invite.  every meeting you lead to a new commitment.  Try your best.  It will be enough.

I remembered one more. Your goal is to invite not to beg.  If you find yourself pleading you need to stop. Testify, be sincere, invite, progress, do not beg. You might not see a baptism now but might be planting seeds. You have a tremendous gift of great price and it should be treated as such. I hope that helps.

Love ya kid
