6/18/18 - Don't feed the monkeys
1st transfer down! Whoot!
This week was pretty uneventful... I know my title is misleading, it will make sense in the end.
GIRPÊ GOT ME GOOD! It's cold and flu season here, I caught a mild
version, I'm super blessed it wasn't bad and I was able to continue to
work with full effort.
This next transfer (6 weeks) I'm going to read the Book of Mormon
all the way through in Português. If you want to take the challenge with
me, (in English) read 15 pages a day. If you do so please let me know!
The World Cup started yesterday and holy cow the whole city shut
down for 2 hours! No one was going to be willing to talk to us during
the game so we switched our study hours to take place during the match.
Nossa! As we were in our apartment studying we'd randomly hear a bunch
of fireworks go off at the same time all over Soracaba letting us know
our dear Brasil scored a goal. Festivities here are bigger than the
Superbowl. People paint their driveways with giant flags and murals of
the Brasil flag and hand a bunch of banners and streamer from house to
house and all over the street. It's a never ending party here!
My new favorite fruit is Goiaba. Imagine a fruity mint kind of like a strawberry but with the texture of a peach.
As far as the work goes, its been a pretty normal week full of
finding and teaching. As we were teaching a lesson to Francisca, Irmã
Nice, the member we taught with insited we sing a hymn to open. We sang
Where Can I Turn For Peace. When we finished, she looked at Francisca
and said, "Do you thing Jesus is here with us now?" She responded that
she did. I think that's such a cool thought to imagine that the Savior
is sitting in on all of our lessons. He's helping us every step of the
way.
Finding has been a bit of a battle as always, this week most of the
people we've made contacts with live in other areas. Super
frusterating, but hey at least they're going to have a chance recieve
the gospel even if it's thorough other missionaries.
I am constantly reminded how much I rely on the Lord's grace to
help me with the Launguage. improvement comes bit by bit, but its only
according to my faith and diligence.

Eu amo vocês!

Sorry pals. I forgot to add pictures again. This will explain my title of my actual weekly email.
1) Found a sign in Novo Horizonte that said "Don't feed the
monkey". Vila Angelica is pretty civilized. Pretty sure there are no
monkeys here... ;)
2) Some of you know I have a weird obsession with crazy textures.
This fruit, (no idea what it's called) was so cool. Kinda looks like a
small animal.
3) My "Wall of Wisdom" A bunch of quotes and advice some of you have given me. Thanks!
4) My new friend Lise. She's really good at funny faces.
