School is weird. I've been taking AP geography,
and the teacher is making it unnecessarily complicated.
Everything else is just hype. I just think that all the teachers should just be
"What the heck. Just do work and live with it."
But I cant wait for you to get back.

Sweet Emma,
Thanks for telling us about the miracles you have seen. You have such a
positive outlook on life! I'm very proud of you! I forgot to ask you
about the Fashion Designer who was investigating the church. You said
something about her sharing some clothes with
the missionaries? What is the most interesting Brazilian style you
have seen?
How have your legs been doing? Are you sleeping okay? Poor Dad only
got 1 hour of sleep last night. By the time he quieted his mind, it was
time to get up for his High Council Meeting. Even so, he did a great
job on his talk today. Dad also got to announce
my release over the pulpit. The new Stake YW President is Jill
Bryant! I'm so happy for her! Her councilors are Kim Yadon and Brooke
Nielsen with Rachel Inkley as secretary. Jill is excited but was caught
by surprise. She will be wonderful! It feels
right. I know I will miss associating with all the great friends I've
made in the Stake, but it will be nice to reconnect with the ward again.
I was asked to give a talk in Riverton Farms ward. Brother Horner
asked me to speak with him. It was a tender
mercy because a few hours after he called to ask me to speak is when
Delle called to tell me that we were getting released. Speaking today
was so good for my heart. I was hoping for one more time to testify as
part of the Stake YW. I will send you my talk
if you would like to read it. Someone from that ward asked me for a
copy of it and wrote a nice note of appreciation. I hope to be more
like that....I want to improve how I notice and show gratitude for those
around me. When others have done that for me,
it sure make a big difference my life.
As Mari told you, she made it in to the Stars Youth Broadway Choir at
Hale Center Theater! She is so excited to work with Kelly DeHaun. This
choir overlaps a bit with her School House Rock show but hopefully that
will be okay.
Congratulations
on being admitted into BYU! We are so excited for you! The picture we
sent was to announce to you that you got in.... are you surprised?😂
Do you like it? I'm so glad they are looking at more than just grades
and ACT scores.
The campus will be so much better because there will be more
interesting people to meet. When I went there, people didn't seem very
diverse (nice but all very similar). I think you will have fun! BYU is
definitely hard, but you are a hard worker.
We didn't get to hear Dalton speak today because it was
the same time as Dad's talk. We did go visit him afterwards. He looked
good but still a bit nervous to be around girls. He starts BYU this
week.
I sure love you!
I hope you have a wonderful and fun week!
💜Mom
M,
Congrats
on getting accepted into BYU! I'm excited to see how your schooling
turns out for you. I'm also excited to see how your months leading up
to school work out. It might be a good time to take an Institute
class. Are the smoke from
the fires in the Amazon getting to your area? It is causing a lot of
people to get upset about global warming and political confrontations.
As Mom told you I had the worst night of sleep I have
ever had last night. I was awake until a little 5:00 and had to get up
at 6:00 for a Stake meeting. Your Mom spoke in the Riv Farms Ward and
did a great job. I spoke in R13 and with my
lack of sleep I could not put together two sentences during the
testifying part without getting emotional. It made for a long and
embarrassing talk. We spoke on Praying with Real Intent and Using the
Proper Wording and Respect. I had a great talk ready
but didn't get a chance to share more than a third of it. Oh well. I
will get another chance in a few months to redeem myself.
We had a party for Grandma Mildred 98th birthday. We
had a lot of extended family and some people we did not know. It was
good to get together but challenging on so little sleep. Last night we
went to a lantern festival in Daybreak. I assume
you are familiar with that as you worked at Daybreak. We went with
Grandma Charlene and Anthony's family. We the kids decorated lanterns,
tried to stay away from the band, and stayed for the fireworks. We got
home late and that might have been part of my
problem with my lack of sleep. The weirdest part of the night is
Grandma Charlene wanted us to go to a neighbor's Watermelon party. She
lives in a multi-million dollar home in Daybreak and decorates it to the
extreme for each season. her Summer theme is
Watermelon. Every room had watermelon theme decoration. She strung
watermelon lights, watermelon plates, napkins, towels, rice crispy treat
in shape and color of a watermelons. She had a lot of cut up
watermelon. She had a watermelon bedspread, lamp shade,
rugs. She has about 100 watermelon magnets. She decorated the entry
way, dining room, kitchen, living room, office, and the room with the
washer and dryer. She even had staged towels in the washer and dryer.
She had a separate washer and dryer in the basement
she uses for Calcutta washing. the main lever washer and dryer is just
for staging a theme. Many were impressed. I was uncomfortable. She
has 4 large storage facilities that store all her decorations for the
different seasons. The next one is Halloween.
She hires people to put the decorations away and set up the new
decorations. I was in a hurry to leave but many wanted to stay.
We are excited to hear how things are going. Here is to
hoping you an your companion are able to work together well and have
success. Very proud of you kid!
Dad
