M,
Mom has been keeping me up to date on your efforts with your essays. It
sounds like we have a few ladies in the neighborhood who are pitching
in. We hope this is not too distracting to your work. We know it needs
to be done but we hope you can give both
your full effort.
A few updates from the week. Hyrum has started his Eagle Project. He
is gathering basic clothes and cash for refugees. We are hoping to have
his Eagle Project completed and paperwork submitted before his
birthday. He is doing a great job in showing leadership.
We went on a hike for FHE with the Chandlers. We hiked Donut Falls and
explored a bit. Afterwards the Chandlers gave us all donuts. It was a
fun and short FHE. Went to the cabin the weekend and got a flat tire
on the way up. We were delayed 2 hours as
we changed the tire and got it replaced. It was more of an experience
than we wanted but it all worked out.
They have finally posted for a job at work that could provide a way to
have less stress. It will also come with a lot less compensation but I
think this is what we have been praying for. I hope to find out more
about it this week. We will et you know if
it looks like I will be interviewing.
I'm excited for you to give your all the next few weeks. Every
missionary gets to have a final push towards their last few months. It
is where I found out how hard I could really work. I'm sure you will
have a similar experience. This is when you are at
your most benefit to the Lord. You have the most experience you will
have as a missionary. You have all that is needed to be exactly what
you are suppose to be as a missionary. If you a tired, you are supposed
to be. It is OK. You can sleep when it is
over.
Love ya kid

Sweet Emma,
I enjoyed working with you on your BYU application this week. You did a
really good job on your essays. I'll let you know what Andrea Sligting
says with her edits. Since you have access to your application, do you
need me to do anything else with it, or
will you finish it and submit it when the recommendations/endorsements
come in?
Let me know if you need me to do anything else with it. I think you would be a great BYU student. I know you are a hard worker and love to learn.
Tonight is the TREK fireside. The video turned out well. It's been so
nice to hear about different youth and leader's experiences with Trek.
Each individual seemed to have a personalized experience, something each
needed to learn or understand. That's the
miracle! I am a bit sad that it's all over with. I have really enjoyed
the process. You probably know already, but the Church announced that
all youth 14+ get to participate in "FSY" aka For Strength of Youth
every other year with their Stake Combined with
other Stakes. It takes the place of EFY and is available to everyone,
not just those who can afford it. Like EFY, it will be run by YSA
leaders. Stake and Ward Adults won't participate with their youth. I
am really excited for this program. If you would
like to be a counselor, you would be great!
Another Family Search miracle: I woke up today and felt the need to go
on Family Search. I felt drawn to check on the progress of the
Motorcross Accident victims (remember the story about Great Uncle Odin
Johnson, Motorcycle Racer who killed 7 people when
his motorcycle crashed and exploded in a race?) One of the accident
victims, Louisa Kincart's name has been in the temple system and was
slowly getting her work done but today I felt very definitely that she
wanted me, personally, to finish her work. Even
though she's not a relative, I pushed her name through and will go to
the temple for her this week. Her husband will also have his work done
by Hyrum and Dad. After I printed her cards I thought I was done. Not
so, I felt like I needed to check on the
other victims. Searching more records I discovered another victim that
wasn't on the original list. I also found more details about some of
the other victims (birth dates, parents, children, siblings). I called
Marci Wahlquist to help me know how to add
them to the FamilySearch system without attaching them to our tree.
She is helping me do this for the accident victims. Miracle #2: as she
was helping me research, she discovered that one of the victims (Ethel,
age 20) had a mother who was killed in the
same accident but not reported with the first victims. Ethel's little
brother lived to adulthood but never had children. Ethel's dad
eventually remarried but no known children. This means that their
family line ended.
There is no one who would even know to look for them...or to do their Temple work.
Marci says I can get special permission to do their work! She
reconfirmed what I already knew, this work is REAL. It was no accident
that I felt the need to find this
family. Nothing happens by chance. I am so excited to go to the
temple to help this family! Miracle #3 It's been 105 years this week
(July 31-Aug 2) since the accident. This date must mean something to
these accident victims because it was one year ago
(July 31-Aug2) that I was working on this very thing. I haven't really
thought of it since then. Today was meant to be. Gathering Israel on
BOTH sides of the veil!
I can't wait to hear about your week and the trainings you've been doing. I'm really proud of you!
I love you!
