5/27/19 - When ye are in the service of your fellow beings...

So like I said, my Pday is unpredictable.
I was't able to work a single day in my area this week, but that's ok I was blessed with a lot of service opportunities instead.

Wednesday was Sister Riberio's birthday so all of us on the staff planned a surprise party with President and the other sisters who live with us. It was so fun! I love Sister Ribeiro so much.

Thursday Sister Matias got sick and she and Sister Belnap asked for our help because they had some important appointments. I spent the whole day in instacare with Matias and Almedia went to work in Santana with Belnap.

Friday Sister Almedia woke up with lots of pain because of her wisdom teeth. We spent the day at the dentist's office so she could get all 4 pulled at once. I got to watch the whole procedure and I didn't even get grossed out! It was actually very educational. 😋 Once the sugery was over we had to take a bus, the train and subway to get home. Poor Almedia was not doing so great and just to put the cherry on top, São Paulo public transit is ridiculous. We were there in the middle of rush hour and there wasn't hardly room to stand on the platform. To enter into the train cars everyone had to think skinny thoughts and become good friends with the people around them because personal space doesn't exist. Almedia was a trooper.

Saturday I spent the day taking care of Almedia. As Sister Bybee would say, I'm learning a lot of mom skills.

Sunday some irmãos brought us the sacerment since Almedia couldn't go to church. I've never taken the sacerment at home. It was so cool to see how the same strong spirit that exists during sacerment meeting was the same spirit that was in our home after they blessed the sacrament. Its such a privilege to participate in the  sacrament each week. What a blessing. We also got to study Come Follow Me together. I love Come Follow Me! I always learn so much and have my eyes opened to things in the scriptures that I didn't know before. My love for the scriptures has grown so much on my mission.

Usually we have a staff meeting every Monday, but President is in the interior, so I get Pday today. Tomorrow we'll be heading bright and early to the interior as well to give the new phone usage training to the other half of the mission.

I'm thankful for all the people I serve with. I really do love all of them and I love this work.

Sister Barlow

1) Almedia's swollen cheeks
2) Sister Ribeiro's surprise party
3) Since our house is the support house for the sisters and all sisters stay here before they go home, we have a lot of stuff they've left behind. We have a whole room full of clothes and things. We call it our Shopping Tucuruvi. (Shopping in Brazil is a place, not a verb). I found this grandma sweater in the mix and it made my week. 😆
4) Did you know that chocolate coxhinas exist?!
5) I like to look for rainbows pt 2
