5/13/19 - New Adventures

We started English classes in Santana this week and I had 3 students. Our ward mission leader, Manuel, Sister Matias, and this guy we contacted on the street that morning. It was so fun. I love teaching English! The best part was Manuel's English skills. He only knows how to say, "THIS IS ESPN BASKETBALL açsdfjhsalfjkf UNBELIEVEABLE!" Putting that together with the fact that he is the living Frozone from The Incredibles and you see why I was laughing so hard!

We had lunch with President Ribeiro and his family this week. Perks of serving in your president's ward. It was so fun! I love that family SO MUCH!

We've been in a trio still with Almedia taking care of Santana and Tucuruvi so that's been fun.

We took Gorete to the São Paulo temple visitor's center. She had a bad cold but was excited and dertimined to go. She watched seriously EVERY VIDEO so intently. She loved every minute. Some of the senior missionaries there gave her a priesthood blessing to help her heal quickly and you could tell that really helped build her testimony. We took some pictures in the temple gardens after and her smile was priceless. On the drive home she asked us what she needed to do to serve a mission now that she's divorced. She's amazing. She asked us to teach her a lesson or two over again just because she wants to thoroughly understand. She will be baptized this coming Sunday.

We've been watching the new saftey training videos the church has put out for us and I forgot how different Brasil is. There are so many things I've gotten used to doing I forgot they weren't normal at home like only drinking faucet water from a filtered water bottle, washing veggies in bleach etc.... it got me thinking of a few things from home that I'm grateful for.

Gratitude list of the week:
- US culture/civil peace
- Clean drinking water
- The orginization of the US government system

We are very blessed with lots of things we often don't realize are blessings. That's my challenge for you all is to look for the little things you might be taking for granted and say a little thank you prayer.

I love Brasil and my love for the Brasillian people has grown so much! Missions are the best things!

We got transfer calls today. I have an interview tomorrow with Presidente Ribeiro to find out where I'll be serving next, with whom, and in what calling. I'm excited and I know that with this new adventure comes new challenges, new growth, and more oppertunities to draw closer to my Savior.

We took a little video to say FELIZ DIA DAS MÃES for all the moms, grandmas. great grandmas, and all wonderful women out there. Thanks for the influence you have on everyone around you. It's having problems uploading but I'll ask my mom to put it on Facebook.

Amo vocês!
Sister Barlow
