3/11/19 - SANTANNNAA
Oi pessoal!
This week was better. We're finding our way around and meeting new
people. We've had a few miracles this week and it just goes to show when
we try our best the Lord helps with the rest.
My filha hit her one month mark this week so I got all the sisters
that live with us in on a surprise.I ordered a pizza with chocolate
stuffed crust, (tradition here in SP norte), and I wrote Feliz 1 Mes in
M&Ms on it. We all attacked her in our room and
it was so fun. As we were all sitting in our room talking and eating
pizza. One of the sisters saw my ukulele on the shelf and our pizza
party turned into a "Let's see if Sister Barlow knows this song and that
song and that other song that only brasillians
know". "Barlow sing this, Barlow play that", It was a hoot. Pizza and a
private concert. It was a good night.
We made a lot of contacts in the Park of Juventude that used to be
Carandiru. Carandiru was like this high secuity prison, basically the
Azkaban of Brazil. It's cool but for sure has weird vibes. We met a few
new people to teach there.
It was Women's day this week. As we all left the house that morning we were greeted by this guy that said, "Congratulations,
happy women's day, you're all incredible." It was a nice pick me up
compared to the gross drunk guys that are always hitting on
us. It was actually a really cool day lots of people trying to build up
all women. We got permission to call our moms to wish them a happy
women's day but because I'm american and international calls are
complicated it didn't work out but that's ok. So happy
late women's day to all you ladies!
I bought this fruit that I think looks like a Pokemon from a street
market. They guy who sold it to me found out I'm american and then went
on to tell me a bunch of stuff and then said, "I know Michael Jackson
is alive. Tell all your friends in the U.S.
that Michael Jackson is alive." So friends, Michael Jackson is alive
just so you know. 😂
Carnaval is over but the paries are stil going and you can hear the
funky (a style of music they have here, not the funky you're thinking),
from a mile away.
We were in a bakery doing some study when out of nowhere it started
to rain super hard. This is normal for São Paulo but what was not
normal is that it started to HAIL! like fingernail sized balls of ice.
It was like 90 degreese and then Ice. Brazil is
nuts.
Anyway, that's it for this week! I can sure feel your prayers. Thanks as always. Have a great week!
