12/17/19 - Ilumine sua Família
Oi gente! I'm seriously "sweating like a sinner in church" every
single day. (High five if you get that refrence) I drink ice water, use a
fan, take a freezing cold shower but there is no excaping the heat.
"I'm melting like a popcicle on the 4th of July"
The new family are the cutest people ever. They're so loving and
happy yo be here. Sister Bernardo and I have been teaching them
Portugues lessons and It's been a blast to practice my Spanish in the
progress. We've lost a lot of time working with our investigators
because of so many meetings, service projects, routine medical vists
and other stuff. We were reallying praying that Pai Celestial would help
us get everything we needed to done. Not only did he help us get it all
done but more. We punched our goals in the
face this week. Milagres! It's now a mission rule that every missionary
has to make at least 10 contacts a day. In Aldeia that is so hard
because NO ONE IS ON THE DIRT STREETS IN THE JUNGLE. But as always if
you put in you effort the Lord does his part. We
not only but the 140 minimum for the week but went over it. Blessings
on blessings.
There were a few times this week when I was teacing or testifying
and I could feel the Holy Ghost working though me to testify of truth to
these people. I think my favorite part about being a missionary is
making promises to people in the name of Jesus
Christ with absolute certainty they will happen. While there was a lot
of good this week we had a few fails too... I think the funniest one was
when we got up in front of a ônibus full of people to introduce the
Book of Mormon and not 10 seconds into our invitation
EVERYONE got off. Tudo bem. We just sat in the empty bus after that
laughing.
We were searching for addressses in a part of our area I'm not
familiar with. We found a cool waterfall and a some Macumba. Macumba is
basically offerings people give to Satan. I've seen anything from a
burned Cathloic saint and a cup of beer to a bowl
of rice with veggies and a few wooden spoons sticking out. They're
usually in the middle of the woods and I always think it's funny because
Satan only has power if you let him gente.
Sister Bernardo and I found out we share a love of High School
Musical and we both know every word to every song. You can imagine the
jokes and spontanious jam sessions that have resulted from that.
Find a way to light your family this week folks! Amo vocês!
