6/25/18 - I wake up to crazy birds

I wake up to crazy birds everday and I love it. Brasil is the best. Missionary work is the best. Life is good!

This transfer we've taken a new approach to things. Elder M Russel Ballard tells us that we don't have success, it's not something we experience. It's something we create, we have to work for it. My comp and I took that to heart and we've started to create success with the Lord's help. Our mission president advised us to make small covenants with the Lord each day and if we do our part, The Lord will do His. For example we'll pray saying "we have 1.5 hours left today, we plan to batta this specific street and talk to 15 people before we leave." If we do our part and teach a 3 minute Restoration Lesson to 15 people, the Lord does His part and helps these people feel the spirit and desire to learn more. We have a lot of new contacts with high potential because of this.

We've been preparing a recent convert, Delza for her first temple trip next month. As we showed her pictures of temples and shared personal experiences, she started to cry and talk about how good the grace of God is to allow us such an opportunity to visit His house. I think oftentimes I've taken living so close to so many temples for granted. Here the closest temple is a few hours away in Campinas so once a month the whole ward packs up their cars and makes a "caravan to the temple" Where they spend a day or two. GO TO THE TEMPLE OFTEN! APPRECIATE THAT BLESSING!

I've read the Book of Mormon many times before my mission, but as I've read in Português lately I've realized that although the direct translation is a little different, the spirit and the power it contains is still the same. As I read in my mission language I've found I'm better able to speak the language as well as understand it. THIS BOOK HAS POWER! READ IT! I know some of you who recieve these emails aren't members of the LDS chuch. If you want to recieve a free copy of The Book of Mormon and discover the power for yourself, check out mormon.org
and my other missionary friends will hook you up. I promise it will change your life. ;)

The ways people think to hide from us missionaries is always a hoot and a half. This week when we've batta portas we've had old ladies peek through the window to see who it is and then when the see it's the Sisters they collapse out of view super quick like they are auditioning for a Life Alert commercial. We visited one guy's house, but he wasn't home. As we were walking away we saw him talking to a neighbor down the street. When he saw us he quickly put the hood of his sweatshirt up and turned his back to the street. Funny how people think we can't see them....

I'm going to start teaching English classes on Wednesday. It took us a while to get the program up and running here in Vila Angelica because the Bishop had a bad experience in the past with missionaries teaching English. BUT WE FINALLY GOT HIM ON BOARD and we hope this opens the door to many new investigators. Everyone seems excited, but holy moley am I nervous. Eeek! I know the Lord will help me like always if I simply try my best.
