6/18/18 - Family Letter to Emma
M,
Life is Utah is good. We still
have not slowed down. This week has been spent getting your Mom and
sister prepped for Girls Camp. It will be good to get through this week
as we don;t have anything going on the rest of the Summer. Your Mom
has not slowed down since before you left. She spoke today in church on
Fathers and her Temple Celebration experience. She did a great job.
It became almost a tribute to me almost on the verge of embarrassing.
It was a good day. I got your Bill and Ted gift. they will have a
place of honor at the desk in our bedroom. Hyrum picked out some large
ribeye steaks and the girls had some chicken I grilled. Mom made me
some sweet rolls for breakfast. Overall a great day.
We had a CTR 4 Messy Hair
Pajama Breakfast party on Saturday morning. We had a basic breakfast
and then made paper airplanes, colored them, and then had some flight
contests in the backyard. We brought them back in and then played human
battleship int he living room. Overall a good party. I wanted to
smoke a brisket so last night we invited the past Stake Presidency over
for dinner. The Steeds and Saunders came. The brisket was not the best
we have done. Overall it was good to visit. Richie and Pres. Saunders
went to Mali Africa and did some basketball clinics and some service.
The church is very small in Mali and the mission president had arranged
for most of the basketball team to baptism many people ready for
baptism. The Saunders announced last night that they are moving. They
feel prompted to sell their home and they don't know where they are
moving to. It sounds like they are building new so not moving to
another place in the Stake. Richie is not happy. I spoke to Kyle
Chandler about it today and he and the High School team are not aware.
Hyrum and I are going on a
fishing trip tomorrow. this is the trip I won at the auction. Brad
Fullmer is taking us on a guided fishing trip on Strawberry Lake. We
are taking Keith, Cob, Matt, AJ and John. It is going to crowded on the
boat but it should be fun. I'm hoping we can avoid anyone getting
hooked. We will be leaving the same time that Mom and Eve are for Girls
Camp and we will be gone most of the day. If anything amazing happens
I'm sure I will have a story to share next week.
Good luck this week kid.
Love

Sister Emma,
It still makes me chuckle when I
think about you wondering about dead dogs and you talking too fast in
Portuguese! You are hilarious! I'm really glad that you continue to
see the humor and fun in the world around you. It is a good way to live
(and happy!)
I also love hearing about the
people you are serving and teaching. I'm proud of you for serving and
loving your companion. Continue to look for ways to serve her. "You
will never regret being a little too kind." President Monson
It's also awesome to hear about your experiences following the Spirit. Always be seeking the Spirit.
I hope Dad felt celebrated
today. I made him some sweet rolls, bought him and Hyrum each a ribeye
steak. He opened his gifts. He was really laughing at your gift. You
are so thoughtful!
I'm excited for Girl's Camp.
Brother and Sister Burton (temple committee and former General Relief
Society President) will be our guest speakers on Thursday. Monday is a
special camp day just for YCL's. We will be training them specific to
things for their stage in life: Preparing for the future. President
Steed will be counseling them on Relationships. I will miss the family
while I'm at camp...but I'm glad I get to be there with Eve.
A few days ago I went to
Activity Days Camp with Mari (just a day camp). When we got there, we
(and the other wards) were seated at picnic tables in a pavilion. When
Mari sat down at the table, she started to pound the table in a "pound,
pound, clap" rhythm. Our ward joined in. The ward next to us joined
in. Soon, the entire camp was "pound pound clap"....all because of
Mari! Jill was laughing because she said, "That's just what your older
girls do at camp...they make up cool and fun things to help people enjoy
themselves." She asked if I taught you all how to do that (get people
involved). I just laughed and told her "No, they teach me!" I was
proud of all you kids!
I hope you have a wonderful
week! I will be thinking about you and praying for you while I am up at
camp. (I forgot to tell you that I get to be the camp dj this year.) I
put together 3 playlists: Girl's Camp upbeat, reverent, and dance
party. I bought a bunch of new music. Eve helped me pick it. I hope
you like it too! We bought "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack. "No
Money" and a few others.
I love you so much. You bring
me so much joy. I love and miss your sweet personality...but I'm so
proud of you for serving a mission!

Hello Emma! Bringing you good wishes from Utah!
We all really miss you! How is it down there with the world cup?
In Mexico, there was enough people jumping up and down,
to register as a seismic earthquake!
Love you lots
