4/18/18 - Half way though the CTM!

We had splits this week and Sis Manjate was my "Brasillianera" comp. It was so fun! She and Sis Pierra left for Cape Verde this week so we will get new roommates today.

The CTM is 3/4 Sister right now.

We've been on an English Fast for a few days now and I'm learning a lot.

Sunsets are unreal here. In Utah they're pastel, here they're neon.

Sis Bybee and I have set a goal to memorize 70 new words, 3 phrases and 1 scripture every day for the rest of our time in the CTM. So far so good! I also set a goal to be able to have a 30 minute small talk conversation with a Brasillian by the time I leave the CTM and the day after I set that goal I met it. Dom de Lingas is real!

On Saturday we went proselyting in the heart of the city on Sao Paulo's Broadway. I knew this was coming and I was nervous so all week I prayed to be led to those who were ready for the gospel, and to have my tongue loosed. Before my mission I set a goal to talk to act on every prompting no matter what, so Sis Bybee and I talked to EVERYONE! I knew what I said in Portuguese, but I know it was only by the power of the spirit that I spoke as fluently as I did. Brasillians are very kind and patient people. Sis Bybee and I were told missionaries usually only get 1-2 contacts when they come proselyting. My prayers were answered and we were led to those who would listen. We got 6 contacts! It was a miracle. I know the Lord hears and answers our prayers.
Side note: I found out after the fact I told everyperson I talked to that day that the gospel has been resurrected instead of restored. The Portuguese words are so simiar! Oops!

I love this work and I love the Brasillian People!

Love always,
Sister Emma Barlow
