4/11/18 - Humble Pie and Hard Things

We've been teaching lessons in Portuguese since our third day here! I've swallowed a big piece of humble pie as I've realized there is so much I want to say but I don't have the words. I want to bear my full testimony but I'm restricted to simple vocab. I know the language of the spirit is universal and sometimes simple testimonies are the most powerful, however I can't wait unitl all this hard work pays off! I'm praying for increased faith and I've been able to see my progress each day so that helps.
The hardest thing about the CTM is having every single minute scheduled. Its a good thing my district, comp, and instructors are so great! I've laughed harder this week than I have in months.
I feel so blessed to be able to leave the CTM on P days. When we get back from the temple, (we went to Campinas today), we are free to explore the city and near by shops. To all friends entering the CTM: on your first Pday go to Mr Cheney's cookies and they'll hook you up buy on e get one free.
The weather has been beautiful with the occasional rain. There is the most amazing street art here, however it's super dirty. IT's very similar to  NYC but bigger, dirtier, and everyone is speaking a language I dont understand.
I'm so happy to be on a mission. It's such a blessing. THIS IS HARD and it's the craziest thing I've ever done, but I know it's what I'm suppsoed to be doing.
Someone described the CTM as a firehose to the face. You get a little water but it mostly just hurts. I couldn't agree more.
I have 18 months to give 100% of my focus and attention to the Lord and I don't want to waste a minute. It's very challenging but I'm trying my best!
I'm sorry for all the spelling and grammer mistakes. The Portuguese keyboard is whack and I'm limited on time.

I love you all!
Sister Emma Barlow
